The Training

Theory

I believe dogs thrive when they live in harmony with their owners through clear communication, leadership, and mutual respect. Effective communication and leadership are the keys to a happy, balanced dog. Dogs thrive when they trust and respect their owners, understanding what’s expected of them in a way that feels natural and fulfilling.

I focus on:

• Building a relationship where your dog wants to listen to you because of your calm, confident leadership.

• Providing the tools to clearly and fairly communicate both “yes” and “no” to your dog, helping to shape behavior effectively.

• Understanding your dog’s natural communication—body language, emotions, and instincts—to work with them, not against them.

• Creating a structure where training is simple, clear, and rewarding for both you and your dog.

This balanced, relationship-based approach fosters trust, respect, and lasting behavior change, allowing your dog to thrive physically and mentally.

Training Tools

I use a variety of tools - including treats, toys, e-collars, slip leads, prong collars, and most importantly; the power of body language and energy - to effectively train dogs. Each tool is thoughtfully chosen to meet your dog's unique needs, ensuring a balanced and rewarding training experience.

E-collars and prong collars are some of the most misunderstood tools in dog training. Many people associate them with outdated methods or harsh practices, but in reality, when used correctly, these tools provide clear and effective communication with your dog. Once owners are properly educated on how they work, the stigma surrounding them quickly dissolves.

At Calm Canine Collective, I take the time to condition your dog to these tools in a positive and low-pressure way, teaching them to understand and respond with confidence. Correcting unwanted behaviors—often deeply rooted in years of habits—requires skill, precise timing, and professionalism to ensure corrections are fair and meaningful. With clarity and understanding, your dog can thrive, making these tools an invaluable part of the training process.
